If working on certain egos is starting to make you feel morbid and distraught, try shifting your focus for a while. Go for a walk, listen to good music, turn your attention to a loved one, etc. Anything to brighten your awareness. Comprehension is a dynamic, fluid, and perhaps most importantly, a gradual process. This is why we need to be patient and consistent from day-to-day.
It's important not to take the work on the ego so seriously to the point where we are harming ourselves and developing a sense of morbidity.
