Of interesting note:
And then a scholar said, "Speak of Talking."

And he answered, saying:

You talk when you cease to be at peace with your thoughts;

And when you can no longer dwell in the solitude of your heart you live in your lips, and sound is a diversion and a pastime.

And in much of your talking, thinking is half murdered.

For thought is a bird of space, that in a cage of words many indeed unfold its wings but cannot fly.

There are those among you who seek the talkative through fear of being alone.

The silence of aloneness reveals to their eyes their naked selves and they would escape.
–Kahlil Gibran, The Prophet

On Silence (Samt)
What is necessary is that one choose speech or silence according to the divine law and the obligation of a Muslim to command what is good and forbid what is evil. To say nothing at the proper time is a characteristics of true men, just as to speak at the proper occasion is one of the noblest of qualities. I heard Abu Ali al-Daqqaq say, “Whoever holds back from speaking the truth is a devil without a tongue.”

A Sufi said, “Silence is the tongue of forbearance.” Another said, “Learn silence as you have learned speech. Speech will guide you, and silence will protect you.” It is said, “The chastity of the tongue is its silence.” And it is said, “The tongue is like a beast of prey. If you do not tie it up, it will attack you…”

It is said that the silence of ordinary people is of the tongue, the silence of the gnostics is of the heart, and the silence of the lovers is to protect the secrets of their inner selves. A Sufi was told, “Speak!” He said, “I don’t have a tongue!” “Then listen!” “There is no place within me where I can listen!” —Al-Risalah, Al-Qushayri
Master Samael provides a thorough discussion of intellectual discussions in the following chapter from The Major Mysteries. To want to assert one's point of view (in an arrogant way) towards a skeptical person is only to incur their criticism.
Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you. -Matthew 7:6

They ask you concerning warfare in the holy month. Say, ‘It is an outrageous thing to fight in it, but to keep [people] from Allah’s way (through spreading doubt), and to be unfaithful to Him, and [to keep people from] the Holy Mosque, and to expel its people from it are more outrageous with Allah. And faithlessness is graver than killing (since through spreading disbelief, one kills the soul). And they will not cease fighting you (with intellectual arguments) until they turn you away from your religion, if they can. And whoever of you turns away from his religion and dies faithless —they are the ones whose works have failed in this world and the Hereafter. They shall be the inmates of the Fire, and they shall remain in it [forever] (a number of eternities until those defects are purged). -Al-Baqarah [2:217]

Do not dispute with the People of the Book except in a manner which is best, barring such of them as are wrongdoers, and say, ‘We believe in that which has been sent down to us and has been sent down to you; our God and your God is one [and the same], and to Him do we submit.’

Thus have We sent down the Book to you; and those to whom We have given the Book believe in it, and of these there are some who believe in it, and none contests Our signs except the faithless.

You did not use to recite any scripture before it, nor did you write it with your right hand, for then the impugners would have been skeptical.

Rather it is [present as] manifest signs in the breasts of those who have been given knowledge, and none contests Our signs except wrongdoers. -Al-ʿAnkabūt [29:46-49]

For thirty years I sought God. But when I looked carefully I found that in reality God was the seeker and I the sought. -Bayazid al-Bastami

I have found it translated in my native language, which reads like:

One who follows the path of initiation should abstain from arguments and discussions with sceptic people. One who follows the path of initiation should avoid to [compromise, become familiar with] people who believe that the world goes according to their beliefs, such beliefs are misleading and harmful.
