Peace upon ye, brothers.
My question goes like this: Following the [attempt at] comprehension of an ego, how does one make sure that he has comprehended it fully? I've tried to comprehend, and subsequently pray to eliminate, an "I", but I am not sure if it has been eliminated or even comprehended fully. How can one make sure that he understands everything about an ego? How can one know 100% that the "I" in question is dissolved? I ask you in much humility to please be thorough with your answer, as not only mine but also my partner's work may depend on this answer. Thank you!

By observing yourself, and confirming that the temptation related to that ego is no longer tempting. Moreover, instead of the presence of that ego, one finds the presence of what was formerly trapped within it. For example, where previously you would have become angry at a person, instead you feel love for them.

Through acquiring more data (via observation) and subsequent comprehension.
Stated simply: rather than worrying over whether one defect has been eliminated, pay attention to the facts of your observations, and contemplate them. So, rather than focusing on the end result (elimination), do the real work of observation and meditation. The results will occur on their own if one is working correctly. On the other hand, those who are always looking for elimination often fail to continue observing the emergence of new facts, and thus they become sidetracked and confused.
