I am new to using mantras, and am unsure how to vocalize them based on how they are written. For example: S M Hon, should this be vocalized in one breath? How do you breath when doing mantras? Thank you.

Yes it does clarify. I have been searching for the answer to this question extensively and you have helped me immensely! Thank you!

The syllables of S M HON are broken as follows:

"Ssssssss!"
"Mmmmmmm!"
"Hhhhhoooooonnnn!"

"S" is like a delicate whistle made with the tongue near the teeth; it is the sound that a snake makes.

"M" is made by closing the mouth and imitating the sound of a bull; you will feel a vibration in the lips and the sexual organs.

"H" is a profound sigh or exhalation, followed by "Ooooooonnnn!" "O" works with the heart.

Inhale, pronounce one part with a full breath, followed by the other, etc.

Does this clarify?
