If one were to give another a compliment, and that compliment fed the ego of the other person (IE if "you look beautiful in that dress" were received by the other as a statement that fed their vanity, pride, etc) is the giver of the compliment karmically responsible, and does he bear the consequence of feeding that ego, or is it the sole responsibility of the receiver to determine how to transform the energy of the compliment?

is a compliment good because you said something nice and made the person feel good, or bad because the ego was potentially fed from it? thanks for your help!
Wherever we direct attention, we expend creative energy. -Samael Aun Weor, Fundamentals of Gnostic Education
Therefore, if you compliment with lust, you strengthen your lust and feed the other person's vanity. If you compliment with conscious understanding and creative comprehension, you provide a superior influence to your own psychosomatic nature and the psyche of the other person. This is the science of telepathy, the energetic and psychological intentions within speech and thought, which is dual in accordance with either the perceptions of the conditioned mind or the liberated consciousness.
