One of the forum questions mentioned a list of films by initiates. I am interested in such a list if it exists or in film recommendations if there is not a readily available list. Thank you.

The following response would be good to consider in light of this discussion:

Miyazaki.

Joyful in hope, suffering in tribulation, be thou constant in thy prayer.

Benedictis, qui venit in nomine Domini. Osanna in excelsis.

"Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest!"

The path teaches us sanctity, chastity, and charity. Therefore, initiates following that path should teach the same. The works of initiates of the path to liberation should reflect the values of the path, and indicate the path with clarity. Are there any such films? I have never seen one. There have been ancient stories by initiates (Homer, Wagner, Shakespeare) that were adapted into films, but I have never seen an original film by a contemporary filmmaker that conveyed the qualities of path, thereby opening the possibility of them being "an initiate." From my experience, films universally celebrate the qualities of hell. This is partly due to their nature: they are designed to hypnotize the consciousness, not awaken it. It is abundantly clear that the world of filmmaking and television is controlled by initiates of the abyss, who have no interest at all in sanctity, chastity, and charity.

This is why Samael Aun Weor repeated in many books that students are advised to avoid movie theaters and television, and to be very selective in what they consume via movies, etc. We do not realize how powerful those images are, since we are asleep.

Nevertheless, as mentioned elsewhere, there is benefit to be had by watching films that convey positive values. We would include in this classical operas, nature and environment films, and modest, refined, traditional stories (myths, classic tales, etc).
99.9% of the films and television programs out there are mere garbage designed to make money and teach people how to imitate evil behavior.

"Do not worry; cultivate the habit of being happy." - Samael Aun Weor
