Kamaduro (karma of sexual passion and fornication) and karmasaya (karma of adultery) produces great emotional crises. For example, I know the case of a gnostic couple that struggled with their marriage as the wife felt attracted to one of her acquaintances from work. It was unavoidable for her to see this man, who was a strong karmic tie to a remote past. She communicated this struggle to her husband (unwisely so) and produced tremendous disturbance within their marriage.
This ordeal, being caught between her husband and this other man, is an example of karmasaya and the Direne Ordeal as explained in The Three Mountains. I do not know what happened to the woman's marriage, since this was a source of tremendous struggle for her. However, this is a perfect example of the waters boiling at 100 °C, whereby those submerged lustful elements of karmasaya and kamaduro must arise within the disciple so as to be comprehended and annihilated.
Joyful in hope, suffering in tribulation, be thou constant in thy prayer.
Benedictis, qui venit in nomine Domini. Osanna in excelsis.
"Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest!"
