Hi.

I am trying to follow the meditation course given by gnostic instructors in this site. So far it has been going quite well, and I felt that I am doing progress since the day I started.

However, something is bothering me. I can't manage to stay self aware (separation of the observer and the observed, and doing just one thing at time) when I am reading or doing some intellect demanding task. When I walk or eat, or do anything else, its not so hard to keep attention consciously as it is when I am in front of a computer for example.

Now, some religions state that we should not read anything except for religious books (also Swami Sivananda said that in one of his books) which is difficult for me as I work as a computer programmer.

Question is, is there some way around this, or should I really stop taking intellectual garbage, meaning having to quit my job.

Thanks in advance
