So, I was reading in another post about how we should avoid things like caffeine and sugar which stimulates the mind.

How about the reverse, and taking things that calm the mind?

Like natural supplements like L-Theanine which is found in green tea producing "relaxation, well being, reducing stress", or GABA that the body produces naturally which "promotes calmness, relaxation, eases tension", and helps people with social anxiety?

How about other things like Ginkobiloba for memory ?

Should we just avoid these all together? Can they become a crutch, or a way of suppressing the true expression of the ego? Is it a way to run away from the work and not deal with the hell of your own mind?

How about if taking these, makes you less irritable, and able to deal with situations better, not being so reactive/critical to people and circumstances which may be causing others suffering even in subtle ways. Or to not have anxiety, and be able to communicate and relate with others better.

Its said that, the more we feed the ego, we make it stronger. Can taking these things that might actually suppress some ego;s of fear, or anxiety take away their food because your no longer feeding them everyday on a regular basis, thus reducing them and their influence over you all be it superficial ? But also it is said that we have to go into the very corner of our own minds to root out the egos, and be in situations that bring it out, so we can study and observe our hidden defects, so is taking these a form of running away.. ?

It is said we control our mood through food. So in a sense we modify our moods as it is by our daily intake and based on the quality of food we eat, like a fast food burger cooked by a lustful cook impregnating his energies in the food versus a home cooked organic meal prepared while chanting Om Ma Si Pad Me Hum with your heart inflamed.. So is this any different if its a natural substance and affects your psyche in a positively perceived manner ?
