So Master Samael mentions that Joseph was a Roman soldier somewhere in the perfect matrimony he mentions that, and then in the book the Virgin of Carmel, it says he was a priest of the temple, one of the thirty three elders, but then the Bible says he was a carpenter, are this vocation attributed to this figure symbolic and if so, what do they mean within us?
Initiates are metaphorical carpenters because they work with the wood of the Tree of Life and the Tree of Knowledge. They must know how to measure the cubic stone of the Masons while building the internal temple out of cedar.
For thirty years I sought God. But when I looked carefully I found that in reality God was the seeker and I the sought. -Bayazid al-Bastami
