is there a practice or way to overcome intense attachment or craving specifically relating to abandonment and the need for companionship/ safety from harm


I've heard one of the instructors in the podcasts say lust is the inversion of chastity,i feel like what I experience is the inversion of something but I don't understand what, I'm someone who had severe abuse and I experience these intense feelings every night when I'm in between sleep and waking, I'm sure people use my abandonment issues against me in this way,

its a deep habitual emotion that will impede my spiritual progress,

I would really appreciate and books on this for deeper study, I mainly come from a buddhist practice, or if you would like to ask me a question to clarify please go ahead, when I understand what I feel it will instantly help me

The basic thing is that we all have a unique experience, and the only way to peace is through deeply comprehending it.

This is done through meditation. A lot of psychological work, self-reflection, is required.
