Sublimation or transmutation (in the Gnostic tradition) takes the base material of the sperm or ovum and elevates it to the mind in the form of energy.

This is with the purpose of transmuting our desires, instincts, animal impulses, or egotistical drives into a more elevated spiritual ethic, culture, dispensation, and way of being. Therefore, what was once animal in us is transformed and made into something holy, sublime.
