That will really depend upon the type and quality of internal experience. What generally happens is that the student awakens the free three percent consciousness that is not bottled in the ego. But sometimes the Being may deem it necessary to extract a greater percentage of our consciousness out of the ego in order to provide the soul with a samadhi or sacred experience. The most awakened, luminous, perceptive and clear experiences are a result of the Monad's intervention on behalf of His essence.
While either case depends on the discipline and development of the student, God is always the one who decides what His child receives within meditation and the internal planes. As the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) stated in certain Hadith, "Pray to Allah, but tie your camel to a post." This means, pray that God will help you, but first you must help yourself through spiritual practice. Or, as we hear recited so ubiquitously, "God helps those who help themselves."
