I recently moved, and where I live now does not accommodate the ideal direction for sleeping and altars.

I can lay on my bed somewhere between North and North-East, if I lay at an angle. I can only fit an altar at South-East and possibly North-East.

Are these acceptable? Will it be less powerful than having the precise directions?

Yes. If your altar can’t face East, you can do so symbolically. :)
