Airbending/waterbending according to gnosticism

In one of the lectures I've watched, the lecturer states that an initiate who masters the elements within himself, masters the elements outside of himself. The master of the elements could 'cause tempests' and control fire and earth etc. Would this mean that gnostics are capable of bending the elements like in the avatar tv series?
