Perhaps if they pursued the desires of the mind/ego at the complete expense of the guidance of the heart? (ie, if they became devoid or conscience.)

Or even worse, if they heard the voice of conscience, ignored it, and acted wrongly anyway...

Could their emotional center actually die?
