I read in a book by Samael that there are dead people wandering around in the spirit world or the astral world unaware that they are dead. Well my question is: Do we not see our dead physical body lying there when we die? And if we do how is it that you can go on not knowing that you're dead if you saw your dead body?

We are extraordinarily capable of not seeing what is in front of our face, especially when we do not want to deal with it.
We are also capable of convincing ourselves of comforting lies.
What generally happens however is that the dead person does not recognize their own body. They think it is someone else.
