The first time if heard of Algol was in a Gnostic lecture. It seems that Master Samael only spoke about it as being a demon associated with alcohol and alcoholism, but didn't get into any more details about it.

I didn't know that Algol is also a Fixed Star also known as Beta Persei located at 26° of Taurus (tropical zodiac). It corresponds to the head of the gorgon Medusa and it's said to be the most evil star in the heavens associated with beheadings, irrational actions, accidents and blindness. What I find interesting is that it has been used as a protective amulet against the evil eye and black magic. In Greek mythology, Athena also placed a representation of Medusa's severed head on her aegis/shield. I've seen Astrologers use Medusa amulets for themselves and even recommend them to others.

My questions is: since this star is demonic and evil, is it really possible to use its energies to make protective amulets or is this dangerous? Is there anything positive about Algol?

Any sun is the body of a solar logos, a cosmocreator divinity. Therefore, different suns channel the solar forces from the Absolute Abstract Space and the Ain Soph Aur.

The only way to know about cosmic, interstellar influences is to awaken your consciousness and investigate those stars yourself within the superior worlds.

I do not recommend Medusa medallions or amulets simply because I have not investigated them, nor had the need to, because the Gnostic pentagram with seven metals works very well against the negative influences.

For thirty years I sought God. But when I looked carefully I found that in reality God was the seeker and I the sought. -Bayazid al-Bastami
