Hello,
My partner and I are struggling to know where the boundary is drawn between lust and enjoyment during the sexual act.

Please could you clarify what is correct conduct(other than not spilling) in terms of what is acceptable as enjoyment and what is a sign that lust is appearing .

Thank you for your time

That is a wonderful question. The reality, too, is that the answer is what distinguishes an angel from a demon.

Examine your mind. If there is an intense build up of energy but no redirection through breath, prayer, mantra, or control, then we are feeding lust. Refrained desire makes the sexual instinct to rise and transform into sublimated creativity. The best barometer for distinguishing lust from chastity is an awakened consciousness. You cannot sift the wheat from the chaff without meditation. Reflect on your states and familiarize yourself with the qualities and virtues of your Essence. This is why meditation is so essential, since without reflection and profundity of understanding, we cannot hope to gain clarity in what we are doing.

While it is normal in the beginning to inquire regarding external activities and behaviors, the magic of alchemy is achieved through understanding our deepest psychological and spiritual drives. Purify your perception through reflecting on your lust, imagining and embodying your virtuous qualities, and comprehending your focal point or center of gravity. If it is in desire, then we will struggle to acclimate ourselves towards purity. This is everyone’s situation. Be patient, because this is not an easy learning process. But with patience you shall possess your souls.

Study, meditate upon, and live the following book:

Joyful in hope, suffering in tribulation, be thou constant in thy prayer.

Benedictis, qui venit in nomine Domini. Osanna in excelsis.

"Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest!"

Thank you dear Benedictus, you have clarified things for us wonderfully!

We have just finished The Mystery of the Golden Flower, and are looking forward to the continuation of our journey.

Thank you again for all of your help!

With love and light, S&T.
