Greetings,

Hope all is well with everyone. Is psychological equilibrium the first thing that the Gnostic Student tries to achieve? How do I achieve psychological equilibrium?

If so, I have been in Gnosis seven years and have yet to take the first step. I am making a serious effort to better my spiritual life but am unclear on how to work, since I seem to be working in the wrong way, and I have plenty information of the teachings but feel frustratedely bogged down in information.

As I understand it, in the beginning the student works on ethics and begins to conserve the sexual energy. In addition, we work to achieve psychological equilibrium. These three are the first things we try to accomplish in the work, so it does not seem irrelevant to state that I have still not developed chastity to the point of conserving and transmuting it.

How do I know have achieved psychological equilibrium? Once achieved, what is the next step?

It would help me a lot if you could point me in the right direction because I feel stuck, lost, and stupid. Kind regards and thank you!

Sincerely,
Adam

I have linked three lectures about equilibrium below.

In order to achieve equilibrium, we have to understand what causes disequilibrium in us. Negative thoughts and emotions and disharmonious actions produce psychological chaos within. Because our psyche is intimately linked to our sexual energy, controlling the one helps to control the other.

"If thou canst not make thine own self what thou desireth, how shalt thou be able to fashion another to thine own liking. We are ready to see others made perfect, and yet we do not amend our own shortcomings."
