Auto-idea

Dear Instructors and to whom ever it might concern,

Samael Aun Weor, in The Revolution of the Dialectic, under the chapter Auto-idea, writes about how secondhand experiences, concepts and ideas are illusory, and that only by not being a slave of the mind that we might acquire 'auto-idea'.

I wonder, in this context, is this 'auto' is 'self' or 'self-made'?

It doesn't seem to me to mean 'self-idea' as in an idea of what the self is. Rather, it seems to me that 'idea conception made by oneself (firsthand)' could be a correct interpretation. Further evidence might be the chapter 'The Corpses of the Ego' where he mentions 'self-concepts'.

Self-concept is based on the experience of one’s own form of thinking.

It seems that two different ways of saying the same thing here was made, or perhaps the translation was inconstant, or Samael consciously used two different words to differentiate between two different concepts.

What are your views on this?

Self-concept is experiential awakening of the liberated consciousness. In other words, dianoetic and noetic knowledge.

As Gnostics, we strive to develop knowledge from our own consciousness. While we can gain concepts from books, the only lasting and worthy knowledge comes from within.
