I strongly feel these two popular substances are a combo meal for the ego. I saw that my ego gave rise to transient feelings of pride and envy. Hence, I am sure to maintain moderation and remain aware of myself at all times making an effort to comprehend where these feelings come from. I simply wish to have a good time with my friends. Everyone becomes a bit more relaxed and open with each other. Genuine bonds seem to form among people as we enjoy each other's company and nice music. But is this just a really crafty illusion? Am I supposed to absolutely avoid any form of substance in my body while on the path?

It is highly likely that the alcohol and emissions were related.

Sorry I asked. I believe I found my answers. "By permitting his senses to become deadened through indulgence in habit-forming drugs or alcoholic stimulants, the individual becomes temporarily en rapport with these denizens [Succubi and Incubi] of the astral plane." - Secret Teachings of All Ages (1928) by Manly P. Hall. I have experienced this directly. Achieving chastity has been a wonderful experience for me the past three months on the physical plane. But I have failed twice unconsciously due to nocturnal emissions. I now believe they were connected with my alcohol intake around the time they happened. Am I correct? I still need grow up..
