I'm not very familiar with Dantes inferno, I do know he explored klipoth, was that his choice or did he have to descend first before ascending. Why was he exploring klipoth and is it safe for us to experience these realms without trapping our consciousness there or descending sephiroth.
Personally I believe psychedelics serve an important purpose in lifting our consciousness even if our visions occur in hell. They can take an atheist and remove him from his vessel or help him investigate his mind. I also believe that people can reach higher sephiroth via psychedelic use however this is extremely rare and requires much internal discipline.

Please view his art if you're not familiar, it really is one of a kind, I don't believe the psychedelics are causing him to journey klipoth, unless his desire is too be a prideful famous artist, but we would never know what's happening within him.
