If we observe a thought or an image in the intellect causing a reaction or a stirring of the heart, are we observing the intellect stealing energy from the heart?

The image is of a woman we are attracted to. The image appears and, upon identification with it, the heart feels anxiety and unease.

Is the intellect stealing from the heart?

How is this transformed?

Psychological equilibrium is about learning how to properly manage our three brains so that we are conserving their energies. The foundation of this is chastity.

We need to learn how to self-observe and watch the activity of our three brains from moment to moment. However this requires restraint, because when we catch our intellect wondering into lustful thoughts, we can wake up and bring our attention back to the moment, and in this way we are conserving energy. Usually what happens is that those thoughts lead to feelings and then actions, which produce suffering.

We have to see how the ego uses the three brains to produce suffering.

Only impersonal life and the Being can give us the legitimate happiness of the Great Life free in its motion. -Samael Aun Weor

The Ego uses the 3 brains and you can say each one steals from the other. We must have equilibrium in our 3 brains.
That is a life time, life times,of work. We have to find the root cause of each defect with daily retrospection .

Ego ; From the Latin for "I" and similar to the Greek Εγώ. In Gnosis, the term ego is very different from the Freudian definition. In practical spirituality, the term ego refers to psychological constructs in the mind that trap the consciousness. The ego is a multiplicity of contradictory psychological elements that we have inside and are in their sum the “ego.” Each one is also called “an ego” or an “I.” Every ego is a psychological defect which produces suffering. The ego is three (related to our Three Brains or three centers of psychological processing), seven (capital sins) and legion (in their infinite combinations).

"The ego is the root of ignorance and pain." - Samael Aun Weor, The Esoteric Treatise of Hermetic Astrology

"The Being and the ego are incompatible. The Being and the ego are like water and oil. They can never be mixed... The annihilation of the psychic aggregates (egos) can be made possible only by radically comprehending our errors through meditation and by the evident Self-reflection of the Being." - Samael Aun Weor, The Pistis Sophia Unveiled
