This was mentioned in one of the discussions and I was wondering what kind of practices they are and where can I read more about them?

Thank you
Simply stated:

Tonglen ('giving and taking') is a mediation to take on some level of suffering of another person. On in the in breath one imagines the suffering or pain being taken on, and on the out breath one imagines sending love and compassion.

Metta means 'loving kindness'. When we say "May all beings be happy! May all beings be joyful! May all beings be at peace!" this is a practice of metta. However there are entire meditations of metta. First you send love to yourself, then to a friend, then to a neutral person, then to a difficult person, then to larger and larger populations of people until one is sending love out to the whole universe. You can spend about 10 minutes at each stage.

Can you share some "entire meditations" of meta? This is quite on time for me... I have a new supervisor that I'm trying to adjust to, and there are times when I complain to myself about work related stuff, so I need to cool out with my mental state by sending some metta to me as well as my new boss!

At this time I am unable to provide a more detailed explanation due to time constraints.

Peace,

I thought I would check back with you to see if you are able to provide more details on Metta meditation.

Thank you in advance
