I remember seeing the quote Jesus said, saying something like , "If we haven't eradicated sin then we haven't put in enough blood, sweat and tears" Could you please send me that quote again? I don't remember the whole thing.

We are not familiar with Jesus saying that. There are, however, similar teachings from Samael Aun Weor, who stated in order to eliminate defects, egos, vices, or errors, we need much repentance, remorse, suffering, and comprehension first.
Joyful in hope, suffering in tribulation, be thou constant in thy prayer.
