I’m trying to understand why Malkuth is called Assiah, the lower trinity Yetzirah, the middle trinity Briah and the upper trinity Atziluth.

1. I thought that in each of the four worlds there are 10 sepiroth, how come the four worlds are represented by 10 sephirot only and not 40 sephiroth? (That is, 10 spheres in each world)

2. To ascend, would one need to attain all the 10 spheres in each world?

3. If yes, how does one combine this with raising the 7 serpents of fire, light and the logoic initiations? Shouldn’t there be 40 ascencions? (That is 10 for each world)

In order to answer your questions, one would need to explain the entire wisdom of Kabbalah. Only, by meditating on the Tree of Life, the meaning of Assiah, Yetzirah, Briah and Atziluth is revealed to us.

“All worlds, the Upper and the lower, are inside Adam. All that is created in the world is for Adam’s sake and everything lives and develops because of Adam.” - Zohar

Malkuth the tenth sephirah is Assiah, our physical vehicle of matter and energy in Assiah, Yetzirah, Briah and Atziluth.

The lower trinity, namely, Netzach, Hod and Yesod are the mental, astral and vital vehicles of Adam created by Assiah (matter and energy) and formed in Yetzirah (the world of formation), which must be perfected by the activity of matter and energy, in the ten sephiroth of Yetzirah.

The middle trinity, Chesed, Geburah and Tiphereth constitute the Monad, namely, Spirit, Divine Soul and Human Soul that perform the cognizant creation of Adam’s vehicles in Yetzirah from the world of Briah through the activity of the cosmo-creators from the ten sephiroth of Briah, who work in the laboratory of nature, named, Assiah, or matter and energy.

The upper trinity, Kether, Chokmah and Binah, are the three particles or atoms that need to develop, in Briah, Yetzirah and Assiah, all of their archetypes or divine seeds from the ten sephiroth of Atziluth, this, in order to develop absolute cognizance in each of the ten sephiroth of Atziluth.

7 serpents of fire, light and the logoic initiations?
The trinity of Atziluth, Kether, Chokmah and Binah, from the upper world, place their archetypes or divine seeds in the sexual energy of our Assiah, our Malkuth or physicality, our matter, the lower world.

“I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty (El Shaddai).”
“Saying, I am Alpha and Omega, the first and the last: and, What thou seest, write in a book, and send it unto the seven churches which are in Assiah; unto Ephesus, and unto Smyrna, and unto Pergamos, and unto Thyatira, and unto Sardis, and unto Philadelphia, and unto Laodicea.” Revelation 1: 8, 11

Kether, Chokmah and Binah create Chesed, Geburah and Tiphereth through the cosmocreators of Briah.

Kether, Chokmah and Binah enlighten in Yetzirah (world of formation), physical, astral, mental and causal solar bodies through Chesed, Geburah and Tiphereth our trinity, our Monad, in Briah.

So, Kether, Chokmah and Binah, the three Logoi of the world of Atziluth, ascend in Assiah, Yetzirah and Briah, in different degrees, as the seven serpents of fire and light through the seven bodies of Adam, namely, Malkuth, Yesod, Hod, Netzach, Tiphereth, Geburah and Chesed.

Weep not: behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah,
the Root of David, has prevailed to open the book,
and to loose the seven seals thereof. - Revelation 5: 5

It's been a while since I tried to understand that. I have some understanding but with your explanation Lion of Judah it becomes more clearer and more obvious. Thank you.
