Greetings!

I wanted to ask the difference between a normal person with egos and someone being demon possessed. I know everyone has egos but growing up in Nigeria in West Africa where ‘paranormal’ activities are very normal, to see an exorcism and a demon possessed person screaming and speaking whilst being exorcised is not a strange thing. What is the difference between the two?

There are some people here as well who don’t use any invocation or mantra but with a gaze or a touch upon a possessed person or sick person the reaction is immediate. How is this possible? Are exorcisms futile? What is the point of it at all?

Thanks in advance.

Any entity of the underworld can possess a person. Such entities include demons, larvae, and our egos. The possession is essentially the same, and differences between them are only a matter of degree.

Much of the time the "exorciser" is also the one behind the possession: secretly they find a victim, find their vulnerability, take advantage of it so the person becomes possessed, and then "compassionately" arrive to heal them of possession and collect their fee.

I thought demons and our egos are the same thing?

In regards to the exorciser, the person i’m speaking about, once he says ‘in the name of Jesus, come out!’ Hundreds of people are exorcised simultaenously, its a very regular and consistent occurence and it happens in whatever country he goes to speak. Now I cannot verify the internal transformation or healing that happens as a result of his teaching but there are thousands of recorded cases of all manners of physical and mental ailments cured by a touch. Its not hearsay, there are live videos of cancer bursting out of people’s bodies just by the man stretching his hand towards them.
Alexis, I believe you are saying that a person can be possessed by a demon/ego that was not directly created by their own desires. Is that correct?

If so, would it be correct to state that the person's karma caused them to be vulnerable to such a possession?

What type of activities would make someone vulnerable to such a possession?

Mediumship? Drug use?

How does Divine mercy apply in these situations? Is the person still responsible for the deeds they commit while possessed?

Possession is possible when the consciousness is asleep or weak, and when the person has psychological vulnerabilities (obsessions, addictions, traumas, drug or alcohol use, a flawed personality, etc). Possession can be karmic, but can also occur simply by being in poor condition and being targeted by a possessor.

Our egos are demonic so we call them demons, yet there are also failed souls who are awakened in hell, and we call them demons, too. Either one can possess a body.

All of this is possible because of our psychological condition, and there are many who take advantage of it.
