I grew up hearing that before the resurrection of Jesus Christ, animal sacrifices in the temple were necessary as an atonement for sin, and that the crucifixion of Christ made that unnecessary.
In the context of esoteric Christianity the idea that Jesus had to be crucified so that God could forgive our sins doesn’t make much sense. What then was the purpose of the blood sacrifices in the temple?
I read Master Samael saying that it was a corruption introduced by the false prophet Ezra. But animal sacrifice is mentioned in so many places in the old and New Testament. Was Ezra’s bad influence so widespread that he is responsible for all of that? Is the Bible really that corrupted? Or is there some other meaning to the sacrifices?
