Sorry if the title is vague, I couldn’t exactly find the right way to simply phrase my question, but I will elaborate here. I want to know whether any messages I may experience during meditation are coming from divinity, or are merely ego? Recently I just meditated and without warning received an instruction, and as the meditation progressed certain things happened which I will not elaborate on, but they were such that I feel I need to be sure if they are valid. It is not that it was particularly confusing or meant for interpretation, but that the contents themselves I am simply not sure of. It is also necessary to note I have received completely verifiably false messages at other times from ego pretending to be a higher source, but also messages that as far as I know now have been completely helpful. How can I distinguish these experiences?

1. Study the teachings. A solid foundation in the teachings protects us from many errors.

2. Listen to intuition. For this, one must awaken it. Daily, use the mantras that correspond to it.

Thank you. I will add mantras to my daily practice, someone has previously suggested this to me and I should have listened sooner.
