How do we overcome the many obstacles on our way towards actually stepping foot on the path and how do we establish a rock solid foundation once on it so that we do not let our inner defects mess everything up or prevent outer influences from affecting our progress? I feel we need some superior forces to protect us as the pressures from within and without to degenerate are very strong.

There are certain people who actively manipulate people through their ego's, stimulating the fear, envy etc in others for their own enjoyment or gain etc. I've seen this first-hand and it is absolutely terrible. Until those defects are eliminated how could we prevent becoming a victim to that kind of manipulation?

It is necessary to place the body in the most comfortable
position (asana).

It is indispensable to empty the mind before concentrating (pratyahara).

It is urgent to know how to fix the mind on only one object (dharana).

Then, we profoundly reflect on the content of the object itself (dhyana).

Thus, in this way, we reach ecstasy (samadhi).

All of these esoteric disciplines of the mind must completely saturate our daily life.

In the presence of any person, many images that correspond to the internal life of that person with whom we are in contact will emerge from our interior. This is known as clairvoyance.

Later, these images produce distinct feelings of inspiration within ourselves. The disciple has then reached the stage of inspired knowledge.

Finally, in the presence of any person, the disciple instantaneously knows the life of that person. This is the stage of intuitive knowledge.

Those who want to enter into the wisdom of the fire must overcome the process of reasoning and cultivate the ardent faculties of the mind.

We must only extract the golden fruit from reasoning.

The golden fruit of reasoning is comprehension.

Comprehension and imagination must replace reasoning.

If im reflecting on a situation there's so much going on with so many small minute details, words are said, feelings are felt, thoughts flow, the amount of content is enormous and quite overwhelming to try and reflect upon. What would be a good way to go about reflecting on things? It's relatively easy to meditate on an object such as an image or picture as its quite static... when we talk about meditating on an object in terms of an internal element that has arisen whilst we were interacting with the external world, this seems like a way more complex object of meditation with so many moving parts that are dynamically connected.

So would reasoning be more of a doorway towards comprehension? The Dalai Lama says that we should use our ability to reason in meditation, is this the same thing?

Yes, there is a lot of data to handle. The best tool for the job is intuition.
