Hi, I have nerve damage in my spine and am in constant discomfort. I can't mediate in an upright position, nor can I lay on my back since once my body relaxes it closes my throat.

I can sleep only in the fetal position, it is the most comfortable I can be, so is it an OK position to use permanently? I know it will be harder to resist falling asleep, but it's the only thing I can think of.

Thanks

You can meditate in any posture so long as you can produce relaxation and maintain consciousness.

For thirty years I sought God. But when I looked carefully I found that in reality God was the seeker and I the sought. -Bayazid al-Bastami
