For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. - John 3:16

What is the meaning of this verse?

I understand that salvation is not dependent upon belief.

Why was this verse written in this way?

Because the only begotten son of Elohim is the light. This is why the Cosmic Christ said through the lips of Jesus: "I am the light of the world." And it is written:

“In the beginning Elohim created the heavens and the earth. And the earth was formless, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God (the Ruach Elohim) moved upon the face of the waters.
"And Elohim said, Let there be light: and there was light." - Genesis 1: 1-3

“Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except a man (a Ruach Behemoth) be born of water and of the Spirit (Ruach), he cannot enter into the kingdom of God (Elohim).”
That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.” - John 3

The beasts are born through the sexual act.. Yet those who practice sexual alchemy are born by the Spirit of Elohim.

"The (Ruach) wind (of Elohim) blows where it pleases, and (when it enters through your nose) you hear the sound thereof, but cannot tell whence it comes, and whither it goes (when in your body): so is every one that (through sexual alchemy) is born of the Spirit (the Ruach Ha-Kadosh).

“Nicodemus answered and said unto him, How can these things be?
Jesus answered and said unto him, Are you a Rabbi of Israel, and do know not these things?
Verily, verily, I say unto you, We speak that we do know, and testify that we have seen; and you receive not our witness.
And no (Ruach Behemoth) man (beast) has ascended up to heaven, but he (the Ruach Ha-Kadosh) that came down from heaven, even the Son of man (the Neshamoth Chaim) which is in heaven.
And as Moses lifted up the serpent (of Brass) in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man (the Light of Yehidah) be lifted up (through sexual alchemy):

That whosoever believes (Pistis) in him (the Ruach Ha-Kadosh) should not perish, but have eternal life.
For God (Elohim) so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes (Pistis) in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
For God (Elohim) sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved.
He (the Ruach Ha-Kadosh) that believes on him is not condemned: but he (the Ruach Behemoth) that believes not is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name (Yeshuah) of the only begotten Son of God.

And this is the condemnation, that light (Yehidah-the Cosmic Christ) is come into the world (and is the light of the world), but men (Ruach Behemoth) loved darkness (fornication) rather than light (chastity), because their deeds were evil. For every one that does evil (fornicates) hates the light, neither comes to the light, lest his (promiscuity) deeds should be reproved.
But he that does truth (the Ruach Ha-Kadosh) comes to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God (the Ruach Elohim)." - John 3

There are two types of faiths or πιστεύω pisteos, from πίστις pístis, “faith.” The first is mentioned by the Apostle James when he says:

“Do you believe that there is one God; you do well: the devil also believes, and tremble. But will you know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?” - James 2

The second faith is this one:
“Was not Abraham (our own Inner Ruach) our father (son of Elohim) justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son (his Nephesh Eloki) upon the altar (of alchemy)?
Do you see how faith wrought with his works (of alchemy), and by (alchemical) works was faith made perfect?
And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God (Elohim), and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God (better said: the Ruach of Elohim). Do you see then how that by (sexual alchemical) works a man is justified, and not by faith only.”

So, we are talking about sexual alchemy, this is why James continued:
“Likewise also was not Rahab the harlot justified by (alchemical) works, when she had received the messengers, and had sent them out another way? For as the body without the (Ruach) spirit is dead, so faith without (sexual alchemical) works is dead also.” - James 2

Weep not: behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah,
the Root of David, has prevailed to open the book,
and to loose the seven seals thereof. - Revelation 5: 5

Thank you for your helpful and thorough answer, Lion of Judah.
