Can someone please explain this Islamic term in the context of Gnostic terminology?

Is there an equivalent, or rough equivalent, of this term in Master Samael's teachings?

Nafs signifies "breath, ego, soul, or self," and refers to the three types of soul in kabbalistic psychology:

  • nafs al-Ammara, Nephesh
  • nafs-e-lawwama, Ruach
  • nafs-e-mutmainna, Neshamah
Al nafs al-iblissiyya are the "breaths," "souls," and lunar fires of Iblis, the ego, the pluralized self or selves.

The Sufis always state that must guard our breaths against God Most High, to not speak vain things... Habel, Habilim...

The following lecture referenced below talks about them in relation to the Qur'an.

For thirty years I sought God. But when I looked carefully I found that in reality God was the seeker and I the sought. -Bayazid al-Bastami
