I read in one of the lectures (I unfortunately forgot which one) that the ego "explodes" in the 8th sphere. Could you please elaborate on this concept. I thought what happened in the infernal worlds was more of a slow, disintgrative process. An explosion, however, is a rather violent transaction.

Dante explained in his symbolism that the ego tears itself apart in that level, but I have not heard anyone say it "explodes."
