Dear Someone there,
I have been just reading the lecture Liberation from Suffering in which there is the following paragraph>
"Similarly, if we are making the effort to only utilize our best qualities, to try to overcome our selfishness, anger, pride, jealousy, and to sincerely serve others, then we find that our life from day to day, from week to week, from moment to moment is propelled in another direction; we receive the benefits of our positive actions. Other, higher aspects of our psyche begin to become more common experience for us..."
I can agree that this is true in some cases but one nosy question is getting on my mind. There are surely people which obviously do not seem to "utilize their best qualities".. to give a good example Adolf Hitler. In this case, they, at least seemingly, have quite positive life conditions. How is this possible? Or e.g. some dictators of the past like Stalin etc. Their living conditions were quite satisfiying in spite of doing things which common people with what is described as "dark lives" would not even have dreamt of...Still these "cruel beasts" were enjoying their lives and many people who just live their "normal" lives suffer. I just do not understand how this works because if in your article you say that conditions of the person, making the best effort should get better and he should receive the benefits of etc... then this obviously cannot be a rule for everyone, considering the mentioned cases? Or is it so that God just wants to get rid of some people in which case the dictators /e.g./ do their "good service to humankind" by "voluntarily taking this load on their shoulders"? PS: Pls, accept apology for my English, in case it does not make sense to you - i am not a native speaker. Have a sunny day, looking forward to the explanation, Katerina.
