i question has come up often in my mind latly. If one summons the guardian (which is the first minor initiation if i am not mistaken) and is unsuccesful in overcoming him, losing the battle. what are the reprucusions, is one damned or consumed by him and not able to move forward anymore? Is one able to try again? what are the stakes?
Justice without mercy is tyranny. God is not a tyrant. Many times an Initiate will fail in an ordeal only to be presented with the same trial again, so that he or she may succeed. Many Masters fail in their ordeals, only to try again. It comes to my mind the Master Tchaikovsky, whose sixth symphony illustrates this very well. It is a sexual ordeal in relation with lust (Arcanum Six: Indecision or "The Lovers") which he was failing very miserably. He composed his sufferings and put it into music. After the first movement, which is one of failure and defeat, the second movement moves on. So? This shows us that after failing, we must try again. No one ever succeeds all the time. The true warrior fights through many failures until achieving success.
