Towards the end of "Beyond Death", VM Samael writes about the possibility of making the conscious decision to willfully become an elemental of nature, as opposed to self-realizing or falling into the the abyss. This interested me a lot, because I have not seen or heard that elaborated on or mentioned here. Who makes this decision, the soul or the Innermost? And how is that choice even granted or deserved?

He explains very clearly in the chapter that the process is identical to the path of mastery (three factors, etc) yet on a smaller scale: the soul still must pay karma, eliminate ego, transmute, etc. And, as a minor path, it is easier, but also has fewer benefits and more fragility. The soul does not achieve mastery but only a certain degree of "cleanliness."

Ultimately, our path is determined by the Innermost, unless the soul rebels.
