Can you explain Samael's statement: "if our Gnostic esoteric work is negative, it is due to our own fault".
Why is that? What factors influence it? Why it can be negative and how to turn it into positive?

As I have stated in my Treatise of Revolutionary Psychology, experience teaches us that if our Gnostic Esoteric Work is negative, it is due to our own fault.
The whole book answers the question. However, as a brief summary of the answer, you can read this chapter:
“Nothing is easier than self-deceit. For what each man wishes, that he also believes.” —Demosthenes
"Do not worry; cultivate the habit of being happy." —Samael Aun Weor
