We heard stories about monks and even Samael Aun Weor that did good deeds just as buying caged birds and then letting them go free into the wilderness, it has crossed my mind to do something similar, however some birds that have been raised from birth to be cared for by people, wouldn't they lack some of the essentials to survive on their own in the wild if let go? I know of some birds which are essentially wild which are kept as pets, those I would have no concern whether they will survive as they are instinctively capable even though they may have been raised from young. However its the other types that I am more concerned about letting free as they are more domesticated than the wilder breeds. What are your thoughts on this?

In the past, the animals that were freed were recently trapped in the wild, thus when returned they would survive. That is not the case nowadays.
I suggest you find some other way to help. Try helping other people: that is more difficult, but also far more impactful.
