Dearest Instructors

I'd like to know how we can be free of our own inner subjective abyss and the objective abyss of nature.

Can it be done in one lifetime? And how far on the path of initiation must one travail to be free of the abyss.

I don't mean the final realization of the third mountain which may take much longer, I mean just being free of the abyss in order to ensure that we can keep working on ourselves in the here and now and beyond.

With gratitude.

Each ego resides in the abyss with consciousness trapped inside of it. Therefore, until every single ego is destroyed, some part of us remains trapped in the abyss. The total destruction of the ego is completed at resurrection (end of the second mountain).

However, the experience of feeling "free from the abyss" is relative: if the center of gravity is moved into the awakened, unconditioned consciousness, then that experience expands, extends, and becomes stable. That experience is relative to many factors, and is not permanent as long as the ego remains alive. Nevertheless, that state is strengthened through maintaining it continually (ie. not becoming identified with anything), and by advancing in the three factors: eliminating defects, activating virtues, and sacrificing for others.

What this means in the real world is that by working hard on yourself everyday, you gradually rise out of suffering, and that rise can be exponential. Depending on the karmic debts and the quality of ones work, it can be done in one life.
