I know a few people who teach elimination of ego in the same way that Gnostics do but within purely Christian context. They understand how the evil burden has become too heavy on this planet and in what a dangerous situation the world currently is. They use all social media to spread their teachings - most of which are about eliminating the deadly sins, by giving examples, also suggesting collective prayers, etc. They do a lot of good things for people, selflessly sacrificing themselves, their time and resources.
All of this is beautiful, but there is one fundamental error in what they do - they do not understand other religions correctly, and understand Bible literally. They think that only Jesus Christ (the man and the God, not the archetype) is Who we need to follow. They reject the idea of return/reincarnation and believe that people after death go either to hell or heaven and stay there forever. they base their understanding for example of yoga, or other teachings on wrong Western interpretations and warn people not to be trapped. I once mentioned that they do not properly understand Buddhism or other teachings, and pointed at your website. They were not particularly interested, and warned me to be careful not to enter into all those traps. I failed to explain them Gnostic concepts well enough - at least to open their mind to go and check the website. They might have done so but probably got lost in the website with all of the variety of teachings. In any event they continue to believe that yoga or anything except Jesus Christ is "bad". They say that one needs to follow one master, and if you choose Jesus Christ then you should leave all other teachings.
I love these people and want them to grow spiritually (although in many ways they are much ahead of me - with their selfless attitude to people and kind actions). Is there a better way to do that ? maybe there is a teaching that has been written specifically for this group of people which I can send them ? Thanks.
