A few questions from my reading of The Major Mysteries; in chapter 42 (the 8th paragraph in) Samael writes:
"The human personality is the chariot, the mind is the animal that hauls the chariot, the Innermost is the coachman, the reins are the consciousness, and the whip is willpower. Woe unto the coachman who does not know how to hand over the reins! Woe unto the coachman who does not know how to handle the whip, because he will keep his whip and reins in hand and will not be able to use them!..."
We can look at the diagram of the Tree of Life and point to the sefirah Netzach and say that is my mind. We can point to Chesed and say that is my Innermost. And we can point to Tiphereth and declare that to be the seat of willpower. But is there a particular sefirah that we can align to as the "personality"? Or is the personality found to be contained within several sefirot--that being the lower four sefirot (the Bodies of Sin)?
And a similar question regarding "consciousness"; is there one sefirah to point to and say that is my consciousness, or is it more accurate to say that consciousness is the whole map of The Tree of Life and that each one of the sefirot just shows us levels of consciousness?
And lastly; Samael says:
"Woe unto the coachman who does not know how to hand over the reins."
Is he saying here that the Innermost needs to give control of our consciousness to The Supernal Triunity, or even beyond, to the Absolute?
