How to speak out

It is a question for our Beings, I'm certain, but I would like to ask it here, too: How can we speak out?

There have been, for so long, so many atrocities happening in the world. In the US right now, in my social circles and media, they seem more apparent, with many suggestions of calling senators, donating time and money, and protesting.

I cannot discern what is beneficial action and speaking out, and what merely feels like beneficial action and is either a waste of energy, or worse, feeding our egos.

I am asleep. Attempting generosity in my immediate surroundings is one thing, but I sense there are some political actions that may be more beneficial than others.

Is it possible for instructors to recommend any organizations or causes in addition to Glorian that could benefit humanity? I know all are imperfect, and I do what I can to research charities, but feel profoundly inadequate to properly speak out.

Awaken may be the best or only answer, but I wanted to ask all the same. Thanks for your time.
Since we answered a similar question for you previously (http://gnosticteachings.org/ask-instructor/12992-us-presidential-election-how-to-help-those-suffering-because-of-the-results.html#reply-12993), perhaps the real question is not what is happening in the external world, but what is happening in your mind.

The external world does not exist in the way you perceive it. Your reactions are interpretations of impressions, and are based on a very narrow set of information that you carefully select in order to produce the reaction you are experiencing. In other words, your perceptions are not objective, complete, accurate.

My suggestion is to meditate: not on what you must do to change the external world, but instead study in detail why you are choosing to see the external world in the way that you are.

Thank you, Matthew Thomas. At a surface level, I am choosing to react to news, calls to action, fears, participating in a group reaction. It's not as if atrocities weren't happening before the recent change in US politics; it's not as if now, suddenly, is time to "speak out," and that my forum post born of fear and ignorance will lead me to right action.

I realized a little deeper this morning, observing resentment in myself and finding myself afraid, and afraid of not knowing what to do with it, that I was reacting with more ignorance to aggregates caused by ignorance. Writing my panicked, "What do I do?!" question above, a repeat of my earlier question, I am doing that, too.

It may be I have accidentally stumbled on good actions in my fearful ignorance in the past, but it continues to foster more ignorance. I'm trying to comprehend how unhelpful my fearful, worrying approach is.

Thank you for your suggestion to meditate on why I'm choosing to see things this way. I hope I can comprehend it.

Rather than intellectually speculating about your observations, it is better to meditate on the facts of your self-observations. That is how we access the knowledge of the consciousness. Those who only use the intellect to analyze themselves never change.

Thank you very much, Matthew Thomas. I am still in preliminary meditation stages -- honing (limited and unstable) concentrated visualization capacities. It is a good reminder that I very much need. Too easily forget that "99% of human thoughts are negative and harmful..."

Meditation can't be replaced by thought, no matter how often I find myself thinking.
