I am reading Karma is Negotiable right now, and I came to the subject of covetousness.

I am fairly new to Gnosis, and have about 30 years behind me of living in a very ignorant way - at least ignorant of the Gnostic principals.

I am currently working at a job that I feel doesn't particularly help anyone. I know the work I do is useful, and I do use the opportunity to learn and grow, but I feel compelled to use that time to do something more positive if I can.

My question is found in the point above - is it covetousness to look for different work?

To me, this feeling of wanting to change is a positive thing. I see the superficial nature of my job (marketing). Im not really concerned about the income, but the desire to align myself with something that I feel will put my skills to work for something more positive in my community.

Just reading through that section made me question if these feelings were ego or were something that was moving me in a positive direction.

I just feel a bit confused about how to relate to these feelings inside of myself.

Thank you
Follow your heart.

It's one thing to covet a different position in life, better income, or the success of others, but an entirely different thing to reflect upon your spiritual inquitetudes and long to be of better service to humanity through finding the right vocation!
