I'm aware of the lectures on this site about the Hebrew letters and their meaning yet how would one actually undertake reading the scriptures thoroughly? Would I want to learn Hebrew and go from there? Are there books in English that transliterate the Tanakh and/or Torah from Hebrew, that can be trusted to a large degree as to their integrity? I would like to read both the Hebrew lettering and transliteration. Thank you for the help.

You do not need to be fluent in Hebrew. You only need Kabbalistic knowledge of the Hebrew letters so as to decipher key words.

This way, when you read the names of Biblical figures or names in the text, or other special words, you can get to the meaning of the original.

There are many transliterated or dual language Tanakhs (including both the original Hebrew and an English translation). Here is one dual language text that I've used in the past.
