I'm looking for the meaning behind a particular hand sign that is frequently used in many Chrisitian art works through out the centuries, where the middle and ring finger are touching and the other digits are spread out.

Is this sign related to arcanum 7 and is it used for certain practices, such as the way the sign of the pentagram is used for blessings?

Example is the hand gesture of the virgin in this picture:

There is a hand symbol here that you see in many pictures of Jesus Christ, he shows his hand with its three fingers up (the thumb, the index and the middle up) and the annular finger and baby finger bent towards the palm; this is the pentagram. The index forms the head, the middle is one of the arms and the thumb is the other arm and the two fingers that are bent are the legs. That is the symbol of the pentagram. You find this symbol in the right hand of Jesus; this means the upright pentagram, the symbol of Christ.

While the opposite is what we see here (which is just the index and the middle above and the other three below) this is the symbol that the hippy movement was and is using, this means the head and arms below and legs above. Some say "oh that is the symbol of the devil." Yes, it is the symbol of the devil. This means that the star of five points is upside down. Others say it is the V of victory. But no, it is the symbol of the upside down pentagram, which many followers of the Black Lodge use, simple things that you see everywhere, and this is how the members of the Black Lodge recognizes each other, by doing that symbol, that sign which is the symbol of those souls that are fallen and entering into the Abyss.

(The thumb symbolizes mars, willpower. Thus, pointing the thumb up means to do the will of God; whereas, bending the thumb down means to do the will of the beast, the ego, the devil)

From Alchemy and Kabbalah, Arcanum 5:
The human being with his legs and arms spread out to the right and left is the star of five points. Brain and sex live in an eternal struggle. Brain must control sex. When sex overcomes the brain, then the star of five points (the human being) falls into the abyss with the feet pointing upwards and the head pointing downwards; this is the inverted star, the male goat of Mendes. A human figure with the head aiming downwards and the feet aiming upwards naturally represents a demon.

Thanks for the reply.
I was however referring not to the pentagram hand sign but to the one with the ring and middle fingers touching, the rest of the digits being spread apart, as the Virgin in the picture from the opening post was using.
I linked a few more pictures of this sign for clarity, which is featured quite often in Gnostic art.
