For instance, when we are not able to focus on something and/or ourselves for an extended period of time, what aspect of the Self lacks the energy to maintain that focus--assuming that the body and mind are fully rested. Are there any resources you recommend on this subject and on how to direct more energy to the particular aspect of the Self that helps to maintain focus? Thank you

The ego or conditioned consciousness is the source of distraction, whereas the development and strengthening of unconditioned consciousness, empowered by spiritual energy, can provide the antidotes towards distraction. The Meditation Essentials Course explains the process of overcoming distraction very well!
