Looking back makes magic black?

Special thanks to you, Wingless Eagle. What you wrote makes much sense. These were the words I needed for understanding. Sometimes, simple words can do more than exalted quotations from a remote past – bible or works by masters of the old. Those have been written for ears of the past. Now is a different time.

The heart can easily understand the debilitating impact of looking backwards and it would not need any quotation. But here often we are given so many references and sometimes when you look them up they seem to not be the same. They appear to be portrayed as. I say appear because of limited view. I simply do not like assertion or distortion, this is where my mind stops and says, wait a moment … and starts fighting, but it does so for truth, not war. It wants to know: Can I trust? I mean, a doctrine presented via the internet?

I am much grateful for your response. Thank you for compassionate words. Now I know how to carry on with the future, by nourishing from the compost of past experiences but not identifying with them. Please do not stay too long with this subject matter. I think I now understood the point of not remaining orientated towards the past. Please, answer the many, many questions of other forum users who are with greater problems than me.

Simon the Sorcerer or Simon the Magician, in Latin Simon Magus, (Greek Σίμων ὁ μάγος) was a Samaritan Sorcerer; the Sorcerers that follow Simon Magus are called: Simoniacs, “Altri per simonia” another Simony.

But there was a certain man, called Simon, which beforetime in the same city used sorcery, and bewitched the people of Samaria, giving out that himself was some great one. To whom they all gave heed, from the least to the greatest, saying, This man is the great power of God. And to him they had regard, because that of long time he had bewitched them with sorceries.- Acts 8: 9, 10, 11

I just wanted to help you clarify what instructor Lion of Judah is trying to tell you about looking into the past and why it is black magic. Why it makes people to disconnect with Christ.
It is all about feeding your ego. The things such as nostalgia or constantly living with your mind in the past makes your decisions and "vision" blurry, because you see through your ego of the past, you identify yourself with the past and with the ego's that pull you into the past. Meaning you can't be here and now. Looking into past is not the same as retrospection. In retrospection exercises you try to be not identified with your mind and ego as much as you can.
If you create your future by identifying yourself with the past (looking back/looking into past) you fall to black magic, because you create the same karma as it was in the past. If you are not looking back, being here and now then you create your future by living in the present moment, here and now. That is white magic. We could say that black magic and white magic are wide statements for this situation. And yes, they are. But overall everything you do can be classified into the black and white magic, because when you work in the esoteric work everything you do is magic. The statement "looking into the past" tells by itself that you are enclosed with the past.
It is really simple. If you are identified with the past. If your mind is constantly in the condition of the past, always wandering in the past, living in the past and etc. makes you like a salt statue (the one that Bible speaks about one, were people would become salt statues if they look back). You just become stagnant in the practices. And then you start to go the wrong way, meaning that you fall to black magic even without noticing it. Because how can you? You can't, your vision is blurred, you are in the past with your mind and emotions, embodied with it.
Retrospection is very different from looking into the past. In retrospection you penetrate into the past by not identifying with it and being here and now.
Just think with your heart, not mind

This is simply not true. Read the Divine Comedy and you will see yourself.

Also you changed the footnote to: „all the Simoniac sorcerers XX” -- this is wrong. In Canto XX there is no mention of Simoniacs.

That quote does not refer to the Simoniacs.
Only in Canto XIX the third chasm, Dante speaks against Simony.

Canto XIX:

“The two themes of religion and divine retribution collide in this chasm where the Simonists reside. Simonists, named after Simon the Magus, are souls who sold ecclesiastic favors and offices for their own personal wealth. These sinners, the Simonists, are upside-down in holes resembling baptismal fonts, illustrating that their sin debased their office, and their feet are on fire, most likely lit by the oil of the last rites.”

Canto XX – where your recent picture and quote are taken from – depicts the fourth chasm where the seers and sorcerers are punished. This is a different story that has nothing to do with Simon or the Simonists.

Canto XX:

“In keeping with Dante's theme of Divine Retribution, the Fortune Tellers and Diviners have their heads on backwards and their eyes are full of tears. These are the souls who, on Earth, tried to see too far ahead of them, and thus will spend eternity forever looking behind with blurred vision.”

However I would like to point out that in the Divine Comedy by Dante Alighieri I can’t find any mention of the Simoniacs looking backwards. Their fatal error seems to consist in avarice and buying their God with gold and silver. Like Simon when he offered money to Peter and John. That is why the bodies of those Simoniacs are plunged upside down into holes with only the burning soles of their feet protruding from the ground.

“O Simon Magus, O wretched followers, you who the things of God, that should be brides of goodness, rapaciously adulterate for gold and for silver.”

This is all I can find there in regards to Simon and the Simoniacs. It comes across as a denunciation of the corrupt clergy. The term Simony generally means the corrupt purchase of spiritual benefices and is nowadays used for trafficking for money in spiritual things.

I mention this because you used an illustration by Gustave Doré from the Divine Comedy, and Samael Aun Weor, too, backed his assertions with Dante’s masterpiece -- in the link I referenced initially.

Is this to say that if we attach our identity and religion to any given shape or ritual that has been taught to humanity in the past, while we miss to see the new era beginning here and now which brings new laws and ethics from the Divine spheres, then our religion that binds us to the past thus becomes black?

If we attach our identity and religious work to the past hierarchies of any given shape or ritual that has been taught to humanity in the past, while we miss to see the new hierarchies here and now which brings new laws and ethics from the Divine spheres, then our religious work that binds us to the past becomes black! Because initiation are given and ordeals are placed in the internal planes by the present hierarchies here and now.

Behold, the rituals of the old times are black. This is why the evil ones be cast away and the good ones be purged by the (new) Prophet. Then shall this science go aright.

Actually, Krishna says „dominating my Prakriti”, meaning my nature. He incarnates dominating his nature. To interpret it as “my wife” in this context will potentially lead to men dominating their wives, since they may believe this is the Divine Law and actually have done so for ages. Although Nature is called the wife of God, it is just a symbolic analogy as there is nothing anthropomorphic behind this.

The fallen Bodhisattvas see everything upside-down or backwards.
Their mind is identified with the hierchies of the past, they do not obey the hierchies of the present.

The black magic of Simon the Magician is that he remained looking towards the past, and he did not want to accept Christ or the new Christic current. This is a rebellion against the divine hierarchy and, in fact, Simon the Magician remains situated in the worlds of black magic. The mind is the most dangerous animal of the alchemist. If Simon Magus had dominated the mind with the whip of willpower, he would not have fallen into the abyss. The alchemist who lets himself be carried away by the reasoning of his mind's pride fails in the Great Work and falls into the abyss. The alchemist must be very humble before the divine hierarchies in order not to fail in the Great Work. The mind must become as a humble and simple child. Christ is the multiple perfect unity, but we have to know how to obey the Gods of Karma, Geburah, the Law.
