Group activities performed in gnostic schools strengthen the consciousness, so why would you avoid that at the exact moment you need it? If everyone had to be "clean and perfect" before attending such meetings, no one would ever be allowed to attend, because all of us are abundantly filled with imperfections and failings.

Besides, being "unclean for the day" is a symbolic passage in the bible, it is not literal. We are unclean so long as the ego is alive.
